Technical Office Manager

The Technical Office Manager will hold the responsibility for and management of all design reviews, processes, and procedures. Develop and lead a multi-disciplinary engineering and design review team for project construction. Coordinate and liaise with stakeholders on all projects related budgets, managerial & design review decisions during the project's life cycle.

Responsibilities:

- Review and coordination of all engineering design submittals from contractors, as well as following up site supervision, design conflicts and variation orders.
- Review technical submissions and design layouts as well as material submittals from contractors.
- Lead, by example, the team of multi-disciplinary Section Chiefs and engineers by delegating work according to specialism, project priorities, technical challenges and contractual milestones.
- Plan and maintain project budgets and schedule planning activities with team and managers.
- Attend progress and technical meetings, discuss and suggest technical proposals.
- Take part in project and risk management reviews.
- Coordinate between the construction and contractors’ engineering teams ensuring that all requirements are conveyed clearly and delivered upon.
- Coordinate with quantity surveyors.
- Manage the Technical Office teams on Technical and Department issues.
- Supervise the review and approvals of shop drawings, Material Submittals with respect to the project Specification and Standards of practice submitted by contractors.
- Continually review the contractor’s construction schedule during the progress of site works.
- Review the contractor’s List of Deliverables (Submittal of Drawings, design and Materials) as well as ensures the compliance with the contract and project requirements.
- Liaise with the project control manager on the performance measures related to the technical part.
- Documenting project issues/conditions.
- Liaising with and reporting on project progress to Project Owners on an on-going basis

Requirments
- A degree from an internationally recognized University in Civil or Architectural Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years’ post graduation working experience with particular focus on traditional architecture and natural building materials construction.
- Considerable amount of experience as Design Manager / Engineering Manager /Technical Manager in managing and leading a multi-disciplinary engineering and design review team
- The capability to deal daily with a multi-cultural work force.

A plus

- Previous work experience in East Africa 
- Familiar with specificities of construction in tropical climates

Greenhouse Horticulturalist

The Greenhouse Horticulturalist will hold the responsibility of designing, planning and supervising the execusion of our commercial greenhouse construction from scratch.  

Responsibilities:

- Design and implement the horticultural master plan for the greenhouse in order to meet the required yield and ensure timely deleivery of the set quantities 

- Conduct research to design indoor environments in order to host and gorw non-native greenhouse crops 

- Planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops to ensure maximum yield

- Conducting research on soil composition, irrigation methods, pest control techniques, and other factors that affect plant growth

- Manage pest, disease and weed control programmes to ensure hygiene and health standards are met

- Analyse yields, operational costs and financial returns of horticultural operations

- Train, instruct and supervise greenhouse technician and workers

- Perform essential administrative tasks, including record keeping and budgeting

Requirments:

- A degree from an internationally recognized University in Horticulture or Agricultural Engineering.

- Prervious expeirence in starting and managing commercial greenhouse is a must

- Organic farming expeirence

- Knowledge of international standards, guidlines and codes of practice for food saftey and quality

- Solid knowledge of design techniques, software, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models is a plus

- Previous work experience in East Africa is preferred
